I don’t know about you, but I watched a lot of TV from March to May this year. A lot of it was rewatching comfort shows but there was also some exciting new things and even some total trash. I though I’d share some of my finds.

I’ve included where I watched each thing (mostly streaming services) but be aware that I can be sure how long each will be available or if you can access them outside of the U.K.

Notes and Highlights: Re-reading A Clash of Kings

I’ve been meaning to reread A Song of Ice and Fire for a while now and, with Game of Thrones finishing and the #IronThroneReadalong starting, now seemed like the perfect time. I didn’t want to write up full reviews, because I’m never sure what to talk about when it’s a reread, so I thought I’d share some of the lines I found interesting instead.

Do you review rereads? What do you write about?

If you’re taking part in this readalong, let me know how you’re finding it in the comments!

TV Shows I’d Like to Rewatch Someday

Beyond Books

I’ve said before, that I don’t really reread a lot of books: there’s so many to read and so little time! I feel sort of the same about tv shows, I don’t tend to rewatch many — with the exception of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Boston Legal and most notably M*A*S*H which I’ve seen half a dozen times — but there are a few I’d like to go back and take another look at.

Here are six TV series I’d like to rewatch. What about you?

Galavant! Book Tag

galavant

Susy at Susy’s Cozy World posted this tag as part of the Wyrd and Wonder event and when I saw it I just had to have a go. I was such a sucker for this show. It’s got everything I love in it: unlikeable but strong female characters, medieval-esque fantasy that includes diversity, musical numbers and lots of humour, snark and campiness.

I’m gutted this never really took off and I desperately wish it had gotten a third season. But, since that never happened, I’ll enjoy this tag instead.

Make Me Watch It: Five Films From My Netflix List

Beyond Books

A few weeks ago I made a list of TV shows on Netflix I wanted your opinions on. I tend to watch more series than films anyway, but here are five films currently on Netflix I think I’d like to watch at some point.

Which ones should I watch? Which ones are trash?

Which other movies on Netflix would you recommend me to look up?

Books Recs Based on Your Fave Game of Thrones Characters

This was actually a Twitter thread I put together last week when I was bored and travelling. I originally said it would be short and just my top favourites, but it’s ended up covering about 25 book recommendations, so I thought I’d post it here for posterity and anyone who doesn’t like reading through threaded tweets.

DAENERYS TARGARYEN

THE QUEEN OF IEFLARIA: A Mother of Dragons without the bloodshed.

THE QUEEN OF THE TEARLING: An exiled young queen returns and finds that ruling is harder than it seems.

The Best Game of Thrones Looks

Image2

There are a lot of stunning outfits in Game of Thrones, even in the background. I love how much thought goes into each one — tiny details changing and evolving on the King’s Guard armour, the logic behind even the different blacks the Night’s Watch wear, the house sigils and hidden symbolism — I love it all.

There are always certain outfits that stand out as more memorable though. Here are seven that I particularly like.

Do you have a favourite costume from the series?

If you’re interested in the costuming choices and designs, there’s lots of analysis and interviews on MakingGameofThrones.com

The Best Game of Thrones Quotes

Image2

Okay so actually: The Best A Song of Ice and Fire Quotes, but that’s a bit long for a title.

A couple of weeks ago the Top Ten Tuesday prompt was “Inspirational/ Thought Provoking Book Quotes“. One of the ones I picked was the Sansa Stark line (my favourite):

“My skin has turned to porcelain, to ivory, to steel.”

Greg from Greg’s Book Haven pointed out that a whole list of favourite Game of Thrones quotes would be fun and I’ve shamelessly stolen the idea.
