Everyone’s looking for something different when it comes to entertaining ourselves in these difficult days. I’ve got some friends watching plague-themed movies and others firmly sticking to feel-good kids films. Some people (like me) are sticking to light, short books as they struggle to focus, others are throwing themselves into all the huge tomes they’ve never had the time for.

Definition of magical realism:

a literary genre or style associated especially with Latin America that incorporates fantastic or mythical elements into otherwise realistic fiction. 

Fabulism can often be used to describe similar fiction, but which lacks a Latin American/ colonial aspect.
