Top Five Forest Fantasy Recs

From Wyrd & Wonder:

“But let’s not forget that we do indeed have a theme this year! Wood symbolises a fifth anniversary, so this year we’re riffing on forest fantasy. If you’ve got favourites in this subgenre, we want to read about them! And as always, there’s room for interpretation here – it could be a full forest setting, or it could feature woodland creatures, magic trees, or myths and legends involving any and all of the above. Let your imagination loose!”

Top Five Books with Queer Pirates

I’m absolutely gutted that I haven’t been able to watch Our Flag Means Death yet (curse you, UK television!) but I’ve loved seeing all the fanart and hype on Twitter and Instagram, so I thought I’d hop onboard in the only way I currently can – five of my favourite queer pirate stories.

This Top 5 series was a weekly meme created by Amanda @ Devouring Books. Although this post is inspired by Devouring Books, this prompt is of my own devising and not officially one of Amanda’s suggestion

Each week I’ll pick 5 books using the common theme provided. These might be books I’ve read, or ones that are still on my TBR. I’ll note [TBR] beside any I’ve not actually read myself.

These books are all ‘Top’ in that they were, or look, great. My memory’s not good enough to guarantee they’re the literal top books I’ve read in the category. So feel free to share your own favourites or give me more TBR suggestions in the comments.

As always, in no particular order…

Top Five TV Shows I’ve Been Watching in 2022

This Top 5 series was a weekly meme created by Amanda @ Devouring Books. Although this post is inspired by Devouring Books, this prompt is of my own devising and not officially one of Amanda’s suggestion

This week’s a little different, because I’ve decided to talk about 5 of the best TV shows I’ve watched (or caught up on) in the past four or five months. What’ve you been watching? What’s on your watchlist?

Top 5 Dickens Retellings

This Top 5 series is a weekly meme created by Amanda @ Devouring Books.

Each week we’ll pick 5 books featuring the common theme provided. These can be books that we’ve read, or ones that are still on our TBRs. I’ll note beside each one if I’ve read the book yet or not, and provide a link to my review if I have one.

PLEASE NOTE: Although this post is inspired by Devouring Books’ Top 5 series, this prompt is of my own devising and not officially one of Amanda’s suggestions.

I did Bronte retellings last week, and P&P retellings the week before, so Dickens felt like a sort of natural follow on. There’s definitely a lack of Dickens retellings/inspired stories though so if an author wanted to get on that… Thanks! These are all either Christmas Carol or just vaguely ‘inspired by’.

Feel free to share your own favourites or give me more TBR suggestions in the comments.
