The fifth annual Wyrd & Wonder (the month-long celebration of all things fantasy) is fast approaching. I’m not sure exactly what I want to/ have time to read, but I love the spirit of Wyrd & Wonder and how open it is. Instead, I’ve picked out some fantasy novels — of all sorts — that I might pick up over the course of May.
You can also look out for my Top 5 Saturdays from the 30th April for five weeks, which are all Wyrd & Wonder themed.
Some review copies….

The Warrior by Stephen Aryan
A Strange and Stubborn Endurance by Foz Meadows
When Women Were Dragons by Kelly Barnhill
…and more general TBR

Scales and Sensibility by Stephanie Burgis
An Accident of Stars by Foz Meadows
Last Wool and Testament by Molly MacRae
Kissed the Mark by Lila Gwynn
The Lord of Stariel by A. J. Lancaster
The Curse of Chalion by Lois McMaster Bujold
The Jasmine Throne (Burning Kingdoms #1) by Tasha Suri
The Tethered Mage by Melissa Caruso
I hope you enjoy whatever you choose to read! I’m really curious about When Women Were Dragons, and I loved Scales and Sensibility. This reminds me, I need to pick up the sequel to Last Wool and Testament, too! I didn’t think of it for W&W because I think of it primarily as a cozy mystery, but you’re right: the ghost aspect makes it work for fantasy, also!

I read an interview with the author in Locus magazine, and I still don’t know that much about the book but I’m even more interested. (You can find it here: https://locusmag.com/2022/03/kelly-barnhill-when-women-were-dragons/ )
