Top Ten NonFiction on my TBR
Another off-topic TTT this week. The Non-Fiction Novemeber readathon always catches my eye at this time of year but, in all honestly, I’ll be lucky if I manage one NF book this month (or any month really). I do often see interesting looking non-fiction (and I’ve a fair few unread on my Kindle and shelves) but I just always get caught up in the exciting novels I want to read, so it’s slow progress.
Here are ten non-fiction books I hope I’ll get to read eventually.

Lives of the Courtesans: Portraits of the Renaissance by Lynne Lawner
Wedlock: The True Story of the Disastrous Marriage and Remarkable Divorce of Mary Eleanor Bowes, Countess of Strathmore by Wendy Moore
The Covent Garden Ladies: the book that inspired BBC2’s ‘Harlots’ by Hallie Rubenhold
The Imperial Harem: Women and Sovereignty in the Ottoman Empire by Leslie P. Peirce
The Once and Future Queen: Guinevere in Arthurian Legend by Nicole Evelina

Immodest Acts: The Life of a Lesbian Nun in Renaissance Italy by Judith C. Brown
Kindred: Neanderthal Life, Love, Death and Art by Rebecca Wragg Sykes
The Fall of the House of Byron: Scandal and Seduction in Georgian England by Emily Brand
Courtesans and Fishcakes: The Consuming Passions by James Davidson
The Beauty and the Terror by Catherine Fletcher
I need to get more into nonfiction books! Lovely post ♥️

This is a big mood: “but, in all honestly, I’ll be lucky if I manage one NF book this month (or any month really)” 😂 I had the goal to read at least 3 NF this year and so far I’ve read none 🙈 I do see quite a few interesting ones though!

I also struggle with the non-fiction books I want to read (in theory, anyway) and the novels that distract me from that goal. I listen to more non-fiction than fiction, but since I retired due to disability, I don’t go anywhere, hence not in the car, hence no audiobooks either. I have four books on my ‘NF to read in November’ list, and I am no where close to starting any of them.
Happy TTT!

Novels are just so distracting! I’ve not read any non-fic by audio, but I might have to give that a try!

These books all look so interesting! I also struggle with NF; some are well written and feel almost like a novel, while others feel like I’m reading a textbook.

The author and their writing style are definitely a crucial part of the puzzled. An engaging writer can interest me in the oddest topics!

Same. I always WANT to read more non-fiction, but I rarely actually DO it. I have read a few good NF books this year, though, so that does motivate me to read more of them. I hope you get to your picks at some point.
Happy TTT!
