Top Ten Books I Meant to Read In 2020 but Didn’t Get To

top ten tuesday

January 19: Books I Meant to Read In 2020 but Didn’t Get To (You could take this opportunity to tell us what’s left on your seasonal TBRs from last year. Or books you were super excited about and then you didn’t get to them.)

This is a bit of a combination of 2020 books I was really excited about but just got lost in the shuffle, backlist books I promised myself I’d read and books I put on TBRs but didn’t have time for. Hopefully I’ll pick up a few in 2021.

Top Ten Books I Meant to Read In 2020 but Didn’t Get To

Mary Anne by Daphne du Maurier
I bought this beautiful design as a paperback in Foyles in January and planned to read it immediately. I did not.

Gulliver’s Wife by Lauren Chatier
Bought the audiobook, mostly for the cover, but it’s still unread in my Audible library.

The Twisted Ones by T Kingfisher
I was going to read this for the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time readathon

The Wicker King by K Ancrum
I bought this straight after reading The Weight of the Stars for Pride-a-thon. I meant to read it during Musical Mayhem.

Princess of Dorsa by Eliza Andrews
Another Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time casualty. Still in my Audible library.

Something to Talk about by Meryl Wilsner
This was a pre-order but I had issues actually getting it sent out from Waterstones. It took months and I just sort of… forgot about it once it arrived.

The Winter Companion by Mimi Matthews
I’ve read the first three books in this quartet and given them all top marks, I just need to get around to this one.

Pandora’s Jar by Natalie Haynes
Preordered because I loved Haynes’ A Thousand Ships but when it came out I was in the middle of reading two other Greek retellings and I wanted something different.

Six Angry Girls by Adrienne Kisner
An impulse buy I forgot to read.

The Shadow of Kyoshi by F C Yee
The only book on this list I don’t already own in some form. I loved the first one, but I missed this one coming out and just never got around to it. Tentatively planned for #FFFebruary?

    1. I like it! I’ve read far fewer audiobooks this past year than o normally would but I still read enough that the subscription is worthwhile. Scribd is a good option too, but I’m picky and like having exactly what I want available exactly when I want it.

  1. Really recommend Pandora’s Jar! It’s a non-fiction and more a series of essays than anything else. It’s so, so interesting to read about the different takes on various women from Greek myth.
