Gideon the Ninth (The Ninth House #1)The Emperor needs necromancers.

The Ninth Necromancer needs a swordswoman.

Gideon has a sword, some dirty magazines, and no more time for undead bullshit.

Tamsyn Muir’s Gideon the Ninth unveils a solar system of swordplay, cut-throat politics, and lesbian necromancers. Her characters leap off the page, as skillfully animated as necromantic skeletons. The result is a heart-pounding epic science fantasy.

Brought up by unfriendly, ossifying nuns, ancient retainers, and countless skeletons, Gideon is ready to abandon a life of servitude and an afterlife as a reanimated corpse. She packs up her sword, her shoes, and her dirty magazines, and prepares to launch her daring escape. But her childhood nemesis won’t set her free without a service.

Harrowhark Nonagesimus, Reverend Daughter of the Ninth House and bone witch extraordinaire, has been summoned into action. The Emperor has invited the heirs to each of his loyal Houses to a deadly trial of wits and skill. If Harrowhark succeeds she will be become an immortal, all-powerful servant of the Resurrection, but no necromancer can ascend without their cavalier. Without Gideon’s sword, Harrow will fail, and the Ninth House will die.

Of course, some things are better left dead.

 f/f enemies-to-lovers!

Necromancy. This one looks like is going to be dark and twisty while also full of heart andd humour. It’s once of my top 2019 most anticipated.

These were the tags used in the cover reveal: Swordswoman/Necromancer, Angst With Jokes, UST (Unresolved Skeletal Tension), Lots of Queer Characters, Hurt/Comfort, Childhood Enemies, Bone Friends, Bone Prom, BonesBonesBones, Dad Jokes, Crying.

    1. It was! I found the first few chapter a little difficult but really enjoyed it once I got into it. 😊 And cold weather reading would be a totally immersive experience!

  1. I so cannot wait for Gideon, too. Those tags, though. I’m dying. It’s got basically all the tropes I’m in love with. I’m soooo lucky to have an ARC, and I am very impatiently waiting to read it until closer to release, because I know I’m going to want to yell about it and not wait. Waiting is the bane of my existence.

    Here’s my WWW post.

      1. I feel super lucky to have gotten one. xD Normally, I’m one of the peons who lives vicariously through other bloggers until a book releases and I can get my hands on it. But no longer am I a peon! *pulls down curtains and dons curtain cape* Well, when it comes to this book, at least. xD
