look on your bookshelves. what is the most beautiful book both inside and out?

A Thousand Ships by Natalie Haynes.

A recent read for me, but one which absolutely blew me away. The story is beautiful and the writing is breath-taking. And just look at that cover! I love the rich blue and gold foiling.

New ARC review up on my blog. Review Exerpt. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I adored Haynes writing. It’s beautiful, with absolutely gorgeous turns of phrase, but it’s also incredibly readable. She writes the women’s voices which just a hint of humour and knowingness that makes them all really relatable whether the character is playing the part of hero, victim or villain (or as is often the case, a combination all at once). . . . . #arcreview #bookreview #classics #feministnovel #booksofinstagram #booksbooksbooks #greekmythology #igread #bookaddict #bookphoto #yareaders #bücherwurm #bücherliebe #livreaddict #livrestagram #readersofinstagram #advancecopy #avengersreadathon19 #bookdragon #books #booknerd #bookie #bookgeek #readersofigunite #bookgasm #writersofig #bookstagram #Owlsreadathon2019 #writersofinstagram #readers

what’s a great book that lifts your spirits when you’re down?

When I’m in a funk, I usually can’t be bothered with anything too challenging of complex so I usually reach for a cozy mystery series.

what’s a book that made you feel alive?

The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden

If fact the whole Winternight trilogy. The world-building is so rich and vivid, and I love all of the characters so much. The way everything comes to a head is particularly heart-pounding.

what’s a book that you found unpredictable?

Under The Pendulum Sun by Jeannette Ng

There were plenty of twists and turns in this lush Gothic story about faeryland missionaries. It kept me guessing throughout. It gave me real Crimson Peak/ Wuthering Heights vibes.

what was a book that you struggled with, only to be happy that you read it in the end?

Stain by A G Howard

I really enjoyed the beginning, and I loved the last chunk but I found the middle a bit of a slog.

what’s a book you couldn’t finish or didn’t enjoy?

Umm… I’ve actually had a really good run of books for the past few months. I think the last one I remember DNFing was an ARC of The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang.

what’s a book that you loved and wanted more of?

Death Prefers Blondes by Caleb Roehrig

I really loved how action-packed this heist novel was, not to mention it had the most amazing found-family ensemble cast. I’d love to see them get up to more misadventures together.

what’s a book you haven’t read yet, but really want to?

Stepsister by Jennifer Donnelly

I’ve had this one on my TBR since I heard of it and I’m was thrilled to get my hands on an ARC. It’s set to combine two of the things I love the most: fairy tale retellings and feminist points-of-view. I’m planning to read this one this month for the Sailor Moon Readathon.
