So I saw this on Browsing for Books, and I think the original idea came from Howling Libraries, and it seemed like such a great idea.
These are the unread physical books sitting on my bookshelves. It doesn’t include any ebooks or arcs etc. because that was just far too intimidating.
It was actually really interesting to put this together because it surprised me. I knew I had a lot of unread books, but I didn’t think it was this many. 76! How does that happen? I didn’t even think I owned that many physical books in total! There were also a good number of books which I’d somehow forgot all about. I’m pretty pleased that most of the books I haven’t read seem to have been bought it the past couple of years — although, there are a couple that are at least five years old, so I should really prioritise those.
Any books highlighted in pink are ones that I’ve realised I’m not overly excited about reading. I’m going to unhaul those an take them to my local charity shop. I’m surpised there aren’t more of these, but everything else I want to keep at least a little longer. Anything in green is something I plan to read soon for a specific purpose, either a reading challenge this year or the next few months TBR.
Let me know what you think. Are any of my unhauls worth saving? Are there any that should join them?
I love this idea! It’s so interesting to see which books you want to read soon! I just got a copy of The Near Witch from Titan, so I’m hoping to read that soon too π

I’m stoked to read The Near Witch too π I had the original version on my Amazon wishlist for ages but never got around to buying it so this is just the push I need!

Youβve got some great books on there!! I DNFβd Half Bad so youβre not missing out on anything. I have attempted to read Red Rising so many times but never make it till the end. I will feel so accomplished once i finally finish the dang thing lol

Red Rising is a tricky one beacuse ive seen people really rave about the later books, I’m just not sure the plot interests me anymore.

Wow, that’s a long list! My unread physical pile was around 47 when I last counted, but I bought a few new ones since then, so right now it’s somewhere between 50 and 60. It’s probably a good idea to get rid of a few you don’t feel like reading anymore. I have a couple books like that too, but I don’t want to give up on them without at least giving them a chance
Plus I’m not sure what I’d do with them anyway, since many of them are in English and/or LGBT, so it’s not easy to find people to take them π

My usual bet for unhauling is just to hand then into a charity store, but some of the coffee shops near me have a little mini library where you can leave books. Or you could try the Emma Watson method and just leave them on tables or trains as blind date books for strangers?

I don’t really know about things like that near me.
Heck, I barely even know a charity shop that sells books π
Aw, that method sounds sweet π

Thanks π I needed something or it would have been too daunting. π

I probably should do this too. The closest I’ve come so far is creating an “Owned TBR” shelf on Goodreads. I’m trying to read mostly from that shelf this year, but only partially succeeding.
Several books on your list are on my TBR too, though I don’t own them all. (I do own Bygone Badass Broads, and want to read it soon, but other things keep coming up first.) Dark Net is the only one you’ve marked as unhaul that I am interested in reading, so I’m curious why it no longer appeals to you.

I got my copy of Dark Net as an ARC in my welcome pack during Nineworlds. Its just not one I’d have chosen for myself. If you’re interested, you can email me your address and I’ll send it on to you?

Oh, if you’re sure that would be awesome! Thank you – I’ll email you in a sec. But I completely know what you mean about getting books that aren’t ones you’ve chosen, and yet they sit on the TBR for ages anyway. I do that too, mostly out of some sense of obligation to read them.

Absolutely! I’d prefer someone read it! π Yeah, I feel guilty when I’ve had something for a while, but honestly, I just don’t have enough time for even all the things I specifically asked for/ bought!

That’s a good point! There are too many books for us to get caught up about the ones we aren’t interested in reading.
