You may think you know the story. After a miserable childhood, penniless orphan Jane Eyre embarks on a new life as a governess at Thornfield Hall. There, she meets one dark, brooding Mr. Rochester. Despite their significant age gap (!) and his uneven temper (!!), they fall in love—and, Reader, she marries him. (!!!)
Or does she?
Prepare for an adventure of Gothic proportions, in which all is not as it seems, a certain gentleman is hiding more than skeletons in his closets, and one orphan Jane Eyre, aspiring author Charlotte Brontë, and supernatural investigator Alexander Blackwood are about to be drawn together on the most epic ghost hunt this side of Wuthering Heights.
3 REASONS I’M EXCITED FOR MY PLAIN JANE
- Jane Eyre. I’ve said a few times, but together with Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre is my absolute favourite of all the classics — so I’ve been excited since I saw this would be the next book in the My Lady Janies series.
- I loved the first book — My Lady Jane. Like, loved so much. You don’t understand. It’s the only book I’ve went back and reread in years.
- I don’t really need a third reason? I automatically pre-ordered. But if I did need a reason, the cover is super cool — I really like the yellow on blue and the way the model’s been styled.
This sounds really good and I would like to pick up the first book too. Great pick.

I just recently got the audiobook for the first story so I will hopefully get to listen to it before too long and then I can dive into this one! Yay for no waiting!

It’s great when reading lines up like that! 🙂 I thought the narrator did a wonderful job although it took me a couple of chapters to get used to her voice.
