January 16: Bookish Resolutions/Goals
I’ll be moving house in March so quite a few of these resolutions are related.
1 – Buy fewer new releases, read the books I already own (esp. physical books).
2 – Donate physical books I’ve read to charity shops to clear space.
3 – Catch up on my NetGalley ARCs.
4 – Be more consistent with cross-posting reviews to vendor sites.
5 – Read and review at least one sapphic book a month.
6 – Keep an eye out for readathons (esp. themed ones and ones running less than a month) — Know any?
7 – Read more books by marginalized authors, indie authors, and small-press publishers.
8 – If I need a new book, buy the ebook – don’t add to the moving pile.
9 – Tidy up my GR shelves and cut down my TBR shelf.
10 – Finish some of the series I’ve already started.
BONUS – My Goodreads Challenge will probably be 100 again. I read more this year, but next years going to be busy.
What are your resolutions and goals this year?
If you spy any good readathons ping them my way too? I’d be itnerested to know! Great post btw.

It’s for the year not monthly, but the Series A Month challenge is looking pretty good. I have a lot of those I want to get through, and a bad habit of reading book 1 or 2 and not actually finishing the story.

Good list. I also recently sold my house and I think getting rid of some books was both really hard but also really worthwhile.
Good luck with your move.

Thank you! It’s the best time for it, I’d never have the heart otherwise.

I think dontating books to charity shops is always a good resolution to have. It helps you to clear space, it helps more people read, and it raises money for charity so it’s a win for everyone. Great list!

Great resolutions. Seems like 1 and 3 are on every bookworm’s list this year 😃 I so want to catch up on mu backlist books and NetGalley ARCs.
Also, if I may ask, what is a Sapphic book? I haven’t heard that term before.

At least seeing everyone else’s, I don’t feel so guilty 🙂
Of course! Basically, any book with a bi, pan or lesbian woman as the main character and/or a FF relationship.

You’ve got some good resolutions here and ones I’ve done myself. I did do a big purge and donation of many of my physical books last year. My eyes are not what they were and some of the print was too small for comfort. Happily, my Kindle allows me to adjust the font. And it helped the library as I donated the books to them. Good luck with your move!

The font adjuster on the Kindle is so handy. I change mine all the time depending on where and when I’m reading, especially after a day at work or on the train.

Aaargh I wish I could read 100 books a year. I push it at 50 but that’s pretty much my limit…I’m a slow reader haha!! Great goals, I hope you can stick to them all. I also really want to read more of the books I own this year instead of CONSTANTLY BUYING ALL THE BOOKS!! Here’s hoping, eh? You can find my TTT here:

50 is still really impressive! I’m lucky that I can often read books on my commute and listen to audiobooks sometimes at work. Buying is my biggest weakness too, and every year I promise myself I’ll do better XD

I, too, need to catch up on my NG reads. Yikes. I keep requesting them and not reading them. Oops 😦
Happy TTT!

I get so excited when I see something interesting and forget to look at the publication date or what I already have lined up XD Best of luck!

Great list! I am trying to keep my purchases down to just the 2018 books I’m super excited about this year, but I doubt it will happen!

These all sound like great goals! I need to get through more of my NetGalley books too. And it’s probably time to make another book donation to my local library. Finishing and catching up with series is on my list too. It’s a never ending goal the way I pick up new series. Haha. Good luck with your goals!

Lots of great goals here, we have many in common. NetGalley is my focus in terms of reading for this year, at least until I get the ARCs done that have been languishing for a year. My own writing has to take priority too, but I hope to read as much as I will be writing. Good luck on your goals!

I haven’t participated in it yet – only found out about it yesterday! – but there’s a readathon called Series Crackdown happening from the 9th to the 18th of February if you have any unread series on your shelves. You can find out more about it here!
I’m also going to be moving soon, so I’m also trying to cut down on book purchasing and unhaul a bunch of books before that happens. Fingers crossed we’ll both get it done.

All the best with your reading goals especially with trying to reduce the number of your physical books. I hope that this year is a wonderful year of reading.

Reading the books I already own is a big one for me too, and frankly I’ve seen it on a lot of lists, so I think we’re all in that boat! And oh my gosh I SO need to crosspost better. That should be a goal of mine for 2018 as well lol.

I don’t feel so guilty knowing I’m not the only book hoarder. 🙂 I’m not bad with GR but I really need to get into the habit of posting on Amazon too.

Those are some great resolutions. Good luck sticking to them. I know I wouldn’t be able to avoid buying new books, and could never part with the old ones even after I’ve read them. Thankfully my husband has come to accept that me and my library are a package deal.
Have a great week.

Yes to more readathons 😀
I really want to start the Becky Chambers series, and That Inevitable Victorian Thing looks like one to check out (it’s so wrong that I’ve been drawn in solely by the pretty cover!).
Good luck with your goals.
