December 12: Top Ten Favorite Books of 2017
I had way to many books I loved this year to narrow it down to just ten. Instead I’ve narrowed it down to my top 2017 releases — there’s still more than ten though!
Peter Darling by Austin Chant
Knit One, Girl Two by Shira Glassman
Under the Pendulum Sun by Jeannette Ng
The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue (Guide #1) // Mackenzi Lee
Sovereign (Nemesis, #2) // April Daniels
Daughter of the Burning City // Amanda Foody
Failure to Communicate (Xandri Corelel #1) by Kaia Sønderby
The Rules and Regulations for Mediating Myths & Magic // F T Lukens
The Seafarer’s Kiss // Julia Ember
Traitor to the Throne (Rebel of the Sands #2) by Alwyn Hamilton
Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde
Noteworthy // Riley Redgate
The Edge of the Abyss (The Abyss Surrounds Us #2) by Emily Skrutskie
I’m sorry, but I need to ramble. I LOVED The Gentleman’s Guide so much, and it is also one of my favorites this year! I was also in awe at Queens of Geek. Under the Pendulum has SUCH a gorgeous cover! As well as Traitor to the Throne. Unfortunately, Rebel of the Sands was one of the most disappointing books I read this year. I didn’t like the muslim representation and I’ve heard not so many great things about it from people from the culture.
I don’t understand why the US decided to change the covers, though. The UK ones are gorgeous, and Hero At The Fall is so fiery and beautiful! I think I may want to read the last book just to be able to keep the cover… Daughter of the Burning City had its ups and downs for me. The first half bored me and it was really slow. But then I got to know the characters more and the pacing and mystery picked up. I liked how everything wrapped up too, and the writing style was consistently fabulous all the way through. It ended up being a 3.5-star read.
I loved this post!

Thanks!
Rebel of the Sands was a bit meh for me, but I enjoyed Traitor a lot more. The covers for the series are stunning, I admit, that’s what first drew me to them.

The only one of these I’ve read is Traitor To The Throne and I was kind of underwhelmed by it? I really want to read Daughter of The Burning City and Gentleman’s Guide as well!

Haha, same! I really hope she gains more readers. It was amazing to read a science fiction novel that actually had real diversity. I can’t wait for the sequel.
